Here is the list of our most commonly asked questions on the purchase, installation, maintenance and servicing of our garage doors and openers. If you don’t find the information you need, please Contact Us.

How much does it cost to put on a garage door?

Prices start from $900 for supply and install depending on size and type of door.

What type of garage door is cheapest?

Generally, steel roller doors are the most budget-friendly.

Is it hard to replace a garage door?

Installing a garage door isn’t as simple as installing a regular door.

Not only can it be difficult, but it can also be dangerous.

If you’re not experienced with do-it-yourself projects, the installation of a garage door is probably best left to a professional.

How long does it take to install a garage door?

The installation process of a garage door may include placing new tracks, springs, cables, rollers, and a garage door opener.

The technician will then test the garage door system to ensure that it’s working safely and properly.

This process alone can take about 1-3 hours.

How do you measure a garage door?

Step 1: Measure the width of the opening at the widest point.

This is the distance between the right and left sides of the finished opening.

Take note of general irregularities, such as jambs which are not square.

Step 2: Measure the height of the opening at the highest point.

This is the distance between the floor and the top of the finished opening.

Take note of general irregularities, such as un-level floor.

Step 3: Measure the width of the areas beside the openings (sideroom).

Generally, 120-150mm is required on each side for installation of the vertical track.

If it is a 2-door installation, centre post should be a min. of 250mm wide.

Step 4: Measure the area between the top of the door opening and the ceiling (or to the lowest obstruction at ceiling).

Step 5: Measure the distance from the opening to the rear of the garage or nearest obstruction.

For sectional type doors, the backroom requirement is the door height plus an additional 300mm for manual lift doors.

If an automatic opener is to be installed, the door’s backroom requirement will vary depending on the height of the door.

Can I install a garage door opener myself?

Yes, you can install a Garage Door Opener!!

All popular-brand garage door openers come with detailed, step-by-step instructions for mounting the opener motor, the drive system components, and the controls.

Installing a garage door opener is a moderately challenging task that can be accomplished in an afternoon using essential tools you probably already have in your home collection.

How often should you do maintenance on your garage door?

You should have your garage door serviced at least once a year if no other issues arise.

Service technicians prolong the life of your garage door with preventative maintenance: lubricating areas of the door, tightening bolts and screes, adjusting spring tension and reprogramming the opener.

Although your door may work just fine without it, annual service will prevent issues in the future.

It’s also a good idea to conduct your own monthly check.

Take these things into consideration when doing an overview of your garage door:

– Determine if the door can be opened manually from the outside without the opener

– Check for broken glass if your door has windows

– Listen for unusual noises, such as clicks or a whine when opening and closing the door

– Ensure that your door is able to completely close without issues

Should garage door tracks be greased?

Keep the tracks in which the rollers travel free from oil and lubricants.

Greasing the tracks attracts dirt and dust.

An accumulation of greasy dirt keeps the door from moving smoothly.

Clean the tracks by wiping them with a rag.

You can buy a lubricant specifically for garages.

The sprays don’t leave a drippy or sticky mess.

If you’d rather not a buy a specialty product, use a white lithium or silicone spray.

Choose an aerosol with a straw so you can target hard-to-reach areas and small moving parts.
